About

I’ve always had an interest in ancient history for as long as I can remember. How things were done in the past and learning about famous (or infamous) historical figures was fascinating to me. Though my main interest is in Roman history, many of the ancient civilizations are intriguing – Athens, Sparta, Minoan, Macedonia, Egypt, England, the Huns, Vandals, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Byzantine, Etruscan, Carthage etc. It is quite a shame that there is not a large volume of knowledge / texts on some of these civilizations, as they are all fascinating.

I knew that I had a passion for Roman history and a deep interest in ancient history more generally but did not know how I wanted to convey that. This seems to be a good way to get what has been sitting in my head for all these years out into the wider world. Do I know about everything Roman and ancient history? No. This is just me writing about my passion for one of world history’s greatest civilizations that endures to this very day. This also enables me to learn more about other civilizations when I do my research, so I look forward to learning along the way.

History Bibliotheca enables me to produce lots of quality content about ancient history for readers to consume, learn and enjoy.

Why Bibliotheca?

Bibliotheca is the Latin word for Library. So, the name of the site is basically History Library, which is what I see this site becoming – a library of all things ancient history.

I aim to bring a steady stream of blog content that covers many aspects of the Roman civilization as well as other civilizations, rather than just a general history. So, thank you for taking the time to read this blog and I hope you will stick around for future articles.
